Freefalling is a Glitch used to avoid any fall damage while standing on a falling prop. It is unknown if the trick is still working in OrangeBox Engine-based games, since no one has tried/succeeded in performing it.

Explanation

If you stop flying while in midair on an object with enough surface area (usually better if it is long) and balance yourself in the middle, both you and the object will drop at the same rate. Since your gravity in HL2 is not relative to the "earth" but to any surface beneath you, you do not receive fall damage once your object hits the ground. It is possible that your object may break, however.

Trivia

  • Freefalling was first shown in the HL2DQ using a broken wooden plank in the d3_c17_13 map.
