d2_prison_04 is the third map of Nova Prospekt. It features some high elevation traversing as well as lots of SLAMs and turrets.
SLAMs, turrets, manhacks, and combine soldiers with shotguns, SMGs and AR2.
With a quickclip state, the only sufficient threats are the explosives.
The third floor features a control room containing both health and energy chargers.
Three grenades and two AR2 orbs are also scattered throughout the level. One AR2 orb is located near the supply crate in the control room, the other is on the table on the first floor.
There is a total of two item crates on this map. One is particularly useful as it's just on the way to the changelevel trigger.
Both of these crates follow the same desired resupply ratios:
| Health | Armor | Pistol | SMG | SMG nade | AR2 | Shotgun | RPG | Grenade | .357 | Crossbow | AR2 orb | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ratio | 0 | 0 | 0.5 | 0.5 | 0.1 | 0.4 | 0.5 | 0 | 0.1 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
This means that a player is guaranteed to receive an SMG grenade if they have none; unless they are critically low on a multitude of other weapon ammo types, which is practically never the case. And in order to get some extra shotgun ammo, the player needs to have less than 15 in reserve.
Consequently, these crates will never drop health kits unless the player has negative health (a state that only occurs if the player is already dead).
Furthermore, the 0.1 drop ratio for a frag grenade is only triggered if the player has never possessed a grenade in the first place. Because the game specifically checks for weapon_frags, and carrying zero grenades still counts as owning the weapon itself (which maintains a current ratio of 0.2).
Upon loading the map or doing save deletion, the player is given a suit and a full set of weapons (except for grenades), provided that they haven't saveloaded on the first tick of the map load. In that case nothing will spawn at all.
There are also 16 resupplies with desired ratios of:
| Ammo | Ratio | Easy | Normal | Hard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pistol | 1 | 5 | 5 | 7 |
| SMG | 1 | 3 | 4 | 4 |
| SMG nade | 1 | 3 | 2 | 2 |
| AR2 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 or 3 |
| Shotgun | 0.5 | 1 | 1 | 1 or 0 |
| RPG | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Grenade | 0.5 | 1 | 1 | 0 |
| .357 | 0.5 | 1 | 1 | 0 |
| Crossbow | 0.5 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| AR2 orb | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
The difficulty results reflect what the player is likely to receive, as long as they don't mess with PVSs or saveloads.
On Easy, avoiding grabbing ammo right away causes an SMG ammo box to be preferred over an SMG grenade. On Hard, this allows the player to distribute some pistol ammo slots into .357 ammo and a grenade.
