Anything you want to add here (about yourself)?
I think I'm trying to become a pro at too many games at a time, resulting in not becoming a pro in any of them. I really hope to get on a similar level to the great people here someday.

Your nickname (story behind it)?
Kaito Kid. I read a lot of Manga, but I prefer mangas that are not really popular (I read Naruto and Dragonball and stuff, but their not my favorites). One of those is Detective Conan, which is a realistic manga about a high school detective that is overly intelligent. He solves murder cases incredibly easily. One of the characters of this manga is a phantom thief that steals big jewels using incredible magic tricks and then gives them back after checking if they are the legendary Pandora. He is often confronting the Detective, and it always ends up as a tie (when dueling, he always manages to escape but never manages to keep the jewel). This character is Kaito Kuroba, his phantom thief alias is Kaitou Kid. The French version of the manga always translated it as "Kaito Kid", and I was using this nickname long before switching to english online version, so at least it's a little original.

First contact to speedrunning (when, how etc.)?
I saw spider-Waffle's speedrun of half-life back in 2010, while looking for some half-life videos on youtube because I had recently downloaded it on my new laptop since I had played the game back when I was 8, and I wanted to play it again. When I saw this astonishing run, I attempted to do all the tricks he had done, but could not do any of them, s I classified this run as "full of cheats" (yeah I was that dumb). in july 2011, I wanted to show this vid to one of my friends because he didn't believe me when I told him there were videos with such "obvious hacks". I stumbled upon quad's ss, and watched it just to see it used the same "cheats". The difference was that he explained many of the tricks in the description, so I was confused. I tried the infinite health door glitch, and it WORKED! At that point, I started to think how I wouldn't even have noticed how he got the health if he hadn't explained it, and I realized that I may have just missed most of the "how" of the tricks. when I actually managed to do an object boost, there was one thing left for me to understand: bunnyhop. I heard of "capped versions" and stuff, and figured I could change this with the developper console, so I looked it up on google. I stumbled upon some guy's post on a forum that said to change "sv_maxspeed" and "sv_airaccelerate" to allow bunnyhop. That guy was actually clueless as to what bunnyhop is, but I also was so I believed him. After changing those values, I saw that it allowed me to go to huge speeds with jumping, and even tought I felt like it was really different than the vids, I liked it and attempted my first speedrun of the mod Life's End. when it was done, I sent a message to quadrazid to get him to check my run (I was super proud). Here is what he told me:

hi

pretty nice speedrun i guess, but it seems like you have changed some settings. sv_maxspeed or so. i didnt find it very entertaining because of that.

also try to capture with a little higher frame rate.

otherwise good job. :> /quad

I was pretty ashamed that he managed to see through it this easily, but now I understand that it's actually incredibly easy. I think what made me want to become a real speedrunner is how nicely he told me my flaws, without even calling me a cheater (that's what I was) or criticizing. After that I continued chatting with him in youtube and steam (and I was probably pretty annoying most of the time D:) and now I can play legit and pretty fast.

First speedrunning demo?
My Life's End cheated speedrun my first legit is my We've got hostiles single segment without scientist skip. It was a world record for about 20 minutes, since Quad made a better one very quickly after I sent him the vid.

Favorite speedrun(s) from yourself (the one(s) that you're most proud of)?
For now, I like my my hazard course speedrun in 3:12. I know it's not even close to be a record, but that's pretty much the only run I made except for small mod runs and single chapter runs

Favorite speedrun(s) from others?
Obviously Quad's single segment of Half-Life and his opposing Force 19:23. I also like CrashFortress's Life's End speedrun a lot, because it was a lot faster than my speedrun of it, and mine used cheats.

Favorite player (runs/100%/marathon/coop)?
Everybody here is just so awesome.

SuperFrizzio manages to slip ps2 runs here wonderfully, and he actually competes with the pros here even without playing the game on the same platform

Pineapple is always up for a game, no matter how bad I am (maybe he just likes pwning me completely)

Quadrazid always helps me when I have questions about runs of tricks (even if I know I am annoying)

Gocnak never played hl1 before, but still joined the 100% speedrun (I KNOW it's not making any progress D:) and is really helpful

eXeC is the nicest of everyone here in my opinion, always welcomes others and helps as much as he can

CooL is a "minder" AND a speedrunner, and I think it's awesome.

I never really spoke with Cameron, but if I remember correctly he's the one hosting the website, so he's awesome just for that.

S is hilarious

and to all the others, well you didn't speak with me enough to get a review here :P

Favorite trick in a speedrun?
Obviously the object boosting of half-life 1. It works in hundreds of maps and is extremely useful and awesome to watch.

Most difficult thing ever done in a speedrun?
I guess my single segment of Todesangst, I failed a lot.

Most annoying monster/map?
Obvisouly Pineapple in crossfire, even when I get a shot at him he respawns and kills me right away.

What other games than (Gold)Source do you like?
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Starcraft II

Warcraft III

Diablo II

Minecraft

Slender

Anything else you want to add here?
This website is just awesome.
